Today's scripture comes from Psalm 34:4-9
I think about all the times I've heard phrases like:
He's a God fearing person but what does that mean?
Does that mean we should be frightened of God?
After all, "Fear the Lord," is frequently used in the Old Testament.
Not exactly.
"Fear the Lord," became a standard phrase for a good relationship with God. A good relationship begins with a reverent sense that God is so powerful and righteous that we dare not take Him lightly.
But as we see in this passage, it's not about being timid but rather having a deep sense of security when we receive Him.
God has the ability to be the Lord of all things as well as our friend who desires an intimate relationship with each of us.
God is infinite which means He is able to love you, right here, right now, just as you are, as if you were the only one left in the Universe with Him.
Next time you hear someone say, "That's a God Fearing Person," acknowledge it as an awesome thing because you know you lack nothing in the presence of God, including His unconditional Love and friendship.
